Together we can Nyanga Men

To Cure,
Nyanga

At Nyanga Men Empowerment, we believe that poverty is created when economic and social systems do not keep pace with our changing world. This impacts the quality of life in our communities. The most enduring way to fix the systems that create socially disorganized communities is to safeguard economic and social rights for all people living in South Africa.

Our Impactful
work

In a country where over 9 million children come from fatherless homes, South Africa has many wounded boys. For a child, the primary role model is the same-gender parent. As a young boy, his primary role model will be his dad. Masculinity and how to be a man is imparted from a man to a boy, which very seldom happens in today’s society. Men in the father’s absence often believe that “I wasn’t worth my dad sticking around for.” He then internalizes this message, “I’m not worth it, and I’m a broken man,” and if he’s a broken man, he will be a broken father. Therefore, if they are wounded men, the chances are they are going to wound their children.
